Fresh Cranberry Sauce

Introduction

At our house we served both the traditional canned cranberry sauce because, well, sandwiches. But this fresh version has found a place at our table. Zesty with all the right notes, this is the only sauce recipe you will need.

Ingredients

 2 ½ cups Suger
 2 Oranges (For zest and juice)
 1 ½ cups Orange Juice
 6 Whole Cloves
 6 Allspice Berries
 4 Cinnamon Sticks
 24 oz Fresh Cranberries

Directions

Zest and juice the oranges and set aside.

Bring sugar, orange juice, orange zest, cloves, allspice, and cinnamon sticks to a boil in a 4-quart saucepan. Cook, stirring until syrup is clear, about 3 minutes.

Add cranberries and cook just until they begin to pop, about 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and cool. Refrigerate 1 to 3 days before serving. Remove cloves, allspice and cinnamon sticks before serving.
